About the treatment
What a Hydro Facial actually is
A Hydro Facial is a non-invasive resurfacing facial that puts five steps into a single appointment: cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection. Instead of a gritty scrub and manual squeezing, a vortex wand uses fluid and gentle suction to lift debris out of your pores while it pushes serums back in.
That combination is what separates it from a spa facial. Nothing is scratched off the surface and nothing is forced out by hand, so there is no peeling, no recovery window and no downtime — you can book it before work and walk out with a visible glow.
At our Ottawa clinic on McCarthy Road, every Hydro Facial is set up around your skin on the day. The suction strength, the acid blend in the peel step and the serum in the final step all change depending on whether we are treating congestion, dehydration, dullness or early fine lines.
How it works
What it does to your skin
One session, three passes with the wand. Each pass does a different job.
Cleanse & Peel
A blend of cleansing and exfoliating liquids is drawn across the skin, dissolving the layer of dead cells that makes a face look grey and tired. No grit and no scratching — which matters on skin already stripped by an Ottawa winter. It feels cool and soothing.
Extract & Hydrate
The wand switches to gentle suction and lifts oil, dirt and blackheads out of the pores, while hydrating fluid softens everything on the way out. This is the step a cream-and-mask facial simply cannot do.
Fuse & Protect
With the pores clear, your skin can finally absorb. The wand fuses in serums loaded with hyaluronic acid, peptides and antioxidants — and that is where the plumpness and the shine come from.

Why here
What it does for Ottawa skin
Same treatment everywhere. Different reason to book it in the capital.
Dehydration from the cold-and-heating cycle
Ottawa’s winter air holds almost no moisture, and indoor heating takes out whatever is left. A Hydro Facial puts water back into the skin instead of sitting on top of it, and clearing the dead layer means your own moisturiser finally absorbs.
Congestion you cannot see
Humid summers and city air leave a film that ordinary washing misses. The suction step clears pores properly, which is why texture and blackheads usually improve after a single visit.
Fine lines that are really dryness
Dehydrated skin creases more deeply than it needs to. Rehydrating it plumps the surface and softens those lines the same day — worth trying before you move on to microneedling in Ottawa or anything stronger.
Winter-sensitised skin
Wind and cold leave skin reactive and easily flushed. There is no abrasion and no acid burn here, so a Hydro Facial is often still suitable when a scrub or an AFA chemical peel would be too much.
Indications
What is it good for?
These are the concerns a Hydro Facial is built for. If yours is on this list, it is a sensible place to start.

The difference
Hydro Facial or a regular facial?
A regular facial
- Creams, masks and manual massage
- Exfoliation by scrub or by hand
- Blackheads squeezed out manually, if at all
- Relaxing, and the glow is mostly surface
A Hydro Facial
- A vortex wand, fluid and controlled suction
- Exfoliation by liquid, so nothing is scraped
- Pores cleared by suction, not by pressure
- Serums driven in, so the change is measurable
Because the work is done by technology rather than by hand, the result is consistent and it shows immediately. That is the reason a Hydro Facial is usually the first thing we suggest to someone who has never had a clinical facial before.

Getting ready
Pre & post treatment
Nothing complicated, but following these makes a real difference to how much you get out of the session.
Before your appointment
- Arrive clean: come with a completely make-up-free face.
- Pause strong actives: no retinoids, strong AHA/BHA acids or aggressive exfoliants for three to five days beforehand.
- No overlapping procedures: avoid a chemical peel, microdermabrasion or a laser treatment in the week before.
- Mind the sun: no sunburn or tanning for several days prior.
- Tell us: mention any active breakouts, sensitivity or recent changes to your routine.
After your appointment
- What to expect: skin that feels refreshed and hydrated, with a healthy glow the same day.
- Keep it gentle: fragrance-free products only for the next three to five days.
- Still no actives: hold the retinoids and exfoliants through that same window.
- Protect it: broad-spectrum SPF every morning, and stay out of direct sun.
- Skip the heat: no saunas, steam rooms, very hot showers, heavy sweating or facial massage for 24 to 48 hours.
Results
Hydro Facial before and after
A real client at You Glow Aesthetics. Clearer pores, an even surface and the hydration you can see rather than feel.

Individual results vary with skin type, age and how consistently you treat. Most people see the biggest change after a course of monthly sessions rather than a single visit.
