Laser hair removal on the upper legs is a sought-after solution for women aiming to achieve smooth, hair-free skin in this region. While the lower legs often take precedence in laser treatments due to prominent hair growth on the shin and calf, addressing excess hair above the knee is equally feasible
This typically includes the area from above the knee to the top of the thigh. During the procedure, a laser emits concentrated light, targeting the hair follicles to inhibit or prevent future hair growth. Laser hair removal is a popular cosmetic procedure known for its precision and effectiveness, providing a longer-term solution compared to traditional methods like shaving or waxing. The number of sessions required can vary based on individual factors such as hair color, skin tone, and hair growth patterns.
At You Glow Aesthetics, we want to make sure you get the absolute best results from your session. Follow our simple care guidelines below to maximize your treatment
Shave Only: Shave your upper legs completely 12–24 hours before your visit. Do not wax, tweeze, thread, or pluck for 4 weeks prior.
Sun Protection: Avoid unprotected sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners on your thighs for at least 2 weeks leading up to your session.
Prep Skin: Arrive with clean skin. Ensure your upper legs are completely free of body lotions, oils, creams, or self-tan products.
Clothing: Wear loose, comfortable clothing (like loose shorts or a wide dress) to your appointment to allow easy access and prevent friction afterward.
Sensations: Mild redness, small bumps, or a “sunburn-like” warmth on your thighs is completely normal and temporary.
Avoid Heat & Sweat: Skip hot showers, baths, saunas, and intense workouts for 24–48 hours to prevent sweat from irritating the open hair follicles.
No Hair Pulling: Do not wax, tweeze, or pluck shedding hairs between sessions—only shaving is permitted.
Clothing & Friction: Avoid tight jeans, leggings, or rough fabrics for the first 24 hours to prevent chafing or rubbing your sensitive skin.
Gentle Care: Avoid harsh body scrubs, loofahs, or heavy chemical exfoliants on your thighs for 48 hours. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily if your legs are exposed to the sun.
Shave the area completely 24 hours before your appointment. Do not wax, pluck, or use hair removal creams. Avoid all forms of tanning for at least two weeks prior.
The number varies based on your hair and skin type, but most clients require a series of treatments (typically 6-8 sessions) spaced several weeks apart for optimal, long-lasting results.
Most people describe the sensation as a quick, warm snap or the feeling of a rubber band hitting the skin. It is generally very tolerable and less painful than waxing.
Apply aloe vera or a gentle moisturizer, and strictly avoid heat, intense exercise, saunas, and sun exposure for the first 24-48 hours. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen daily.
