About the treatment
Two technologies on the same patch of skin
Ultrasonic cavitation sends low-frequency sound waves into the fat layer. The pressure changes they create form and collapse microscopic bubbles against the fat cell walls, and the membranes give way. Laser energy is applied alongside to push more of the released fatty acid out of the disrupted cells.
Skin, muscle and blood vessels are unaffected, because they do not respond to that frequency the way a fat cell does. Nothing is cut, there is no anaesthetic and no incision, and what you experience is a warm massage with a handpiece moving over the area.
What comes out then enters the lymphatic system and is metabolised over the following days. That delay is not a flaw in the treatment, it is the treatment — and it is the reason sessions at our Pembina Highway clinic are spaced about a week apart rather than crammed together.
The appointment
What one session actually involves
People book body treatments with less idea of what will happen than they do facials. Here is the whole thing, start to finish.
Before you arrive
Drink properly for a day or two beforehand and eat something light rather than heavy on the day. Wear loose clothing — you want nothing digging into the treated area afterwards. Skin should be clean, with no lotion or oil on it.
The first ten minutes
We look at the area, agree exactly what is being treated and mark it if needed. Gel goes on, because ultrasound needs a medium to travel through. You lie down; nothing is uncomfortable at any point.
The session itself
The handpiece moves slowly and continuously over the marked area. It feels warm, with a sensation of pressure. Most people hear a faint high-pitched ringing while the ultrasound head is working — that is normal and worth expecting rather than being surprised by.
Walking out
The area may look slightly pink and feel warm or a little tender. You go back to your day immediately. The instruction that matters is to keep drinking water, because the clearing phase starts as soon as you leave.
Working out consistently and still stuck with the same pocket?
Being straight with you
Where the line honestly sits
Body contouring attracts more overselling than anything else we offer, so here is what this treatment is and is not.
Think inches in one place, not kilos
This narrows a defined deposit — the lower belly, a set of love handles, the outer thigh. Someone whose goal is to weigh less will be disappointed, and we would rather have that conversation at the consultation than after four appointments.
Two or three visits will not do it
Plan on six to twelve, spread about a week apart. A few people spot something early; the change worth paying for arrives across the whole series. Clinics advertising a transformation in a fortnight are describing something other than fat reduction.
You control the biggest variable
Not the machine settings — your fluid intake. Everything released still has to be transported and broken down, and that process runs on water. The difference between clients who drink properly through a course and those who do not is visible.
Permanent, with a condition attached
Cells that were disrupted are gone and will not return. The neighbours can still grow, which means the contour holds for as long as your weight does. That is the honest shape of the guarantee.
Indications
What is it good for?
Stubborn, localised deposits that have not responded to diet or training.
Under the chin has its own dedicated protocol. Everything else is on our Winnipeg clinic page.
Not certain this is the treatment your skin actually needs?
Why here
Timing a course in Winnipeg
A weekly course over two to three months is a real commitment. When you start it makes a practical difference.
January to March is the natural window
Results keep building for weeks after the last session, so a course started in the depths of winter puts you where you want to be by May. It is also the time of year when a standing weekly appointment is easiest to keep.
Weekly has to be realistic
The spacing is not arbitrary — your body needs that week to metabolise what the last session released. A course that stalls halfway through a Winnipeg February is where results get lost, so we would rather set a schedule you can actually keep.
People drink less water in the cold
Genuinely, and it matters here more than in any other treatment we offer. Being deliberate about hydration for the duration of the course is worth more than anything else you could do to improve the outcome.
Nothing about it is seasonal otherwise
No sun sensitivity, no visible marks, nothing anyone can see through clothing. Unlike facial work there is no cosmetic reason to avoid any part of the year.

Getting ready
Pre & post treatment
Water on both sides. That is not incidental advice here — it is how the treatment finishes its work.
The week leading up
- Get your fluid intake up a couple of days ahead. This is the single preparation that changes your outcome.
- Eat normally, but not heavily on the day itself.
- Leave the area alone for about three days — no retinoids, no exfoliating scrubs.
- Do not arrive with a tan or a burn on the zone we are treating.
- Skin bare and clothing loose. Lotion and oil both interfere with the handpiece.
Once you leave
- A warm, slightly tingly feeling in the area is what to expect. It does not last.
- Keep the water going. Everything released is now travelling out through your lymphatic system.
- Nothing that overheats you for a day or two — hard sessions at the gym, saunas, steam.
- No actives on the zone for three days or so.
- Keep it out of direct sun, or put sunscreen on it if it is exposed.
Results
Laser lipo cavitation before and after
A client treated on the lower stomach at You Glow Aesthetics. The change is in contour rather than in overall size, which is exactly what this treatment is designed to do.

Individual results vary with the area treated, the number of sessions completed, hydration and whether weight stays stable.
